On this Web page, you will find an overview of my academic life and skills I have developed or improved at each academic level. I had an unusual educational background with degrees in computer engineering, medical informatics, Bioinformatics, and history of sciences. After achieving my engineering studies in computer sciences, I have performed a training at the University Hospital of Constantine under the supervision of Prof M. Ouchtati (University Hospital of Constantine) and Prof M. Boussouf (Faculty of engineering sciences of Constantine). I have worked on intranets for healthcare, shared medical records, networking, and new communication technologies for healthcare.

After obtaining my engineering degree in 2001 (with honours and ranked first), I chose to continue my postgraduate studies in medical informatics. I moved to Paris where I obtained on 2004 a Masters of Research in Medical Informatics and Communication Technologies from the University Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris VI). During my Masters, I have studied healthcare information system, networking, medical image processing, bioinformatics, medical languages, ontologies, knowledge modeling, numerical simulation, and computer-aided decision systems.

For my Masters of Research project, I performed a research training at the European Hospital George Pompidou (HEGP), departments of Radiology (Prof G. Frija) and Medical Informatics (Prof P. Degoulet), and at CIRA (Société de Compression d´Images en Réseaux et Applications), a high-tech Company for image compression and technology of networks (Prof S. Hochberg). I have defended, on 2004, my Masters of research thesis entitled "quantitative and visual assessment of a medical image compression algorithm based on wavelet transformation. Elaboration of optimized compression approach". This Master thesis was supervised by Dr D. Heudes and Mr S. Topin.

In addition, I have prepared at the University Paris VI and Diaconesse Croix Saint-Simon Hospital Group in Paris (Prof A. Sezeur) a University Diploma of Bioengineering, Valorization of Applied Research and Biomedical Innovation. I defended, on 2005, a dissertation entitled "protection of persons in biomedical research: risks related to the introduction of new communication technologies such as wireless and mobile communication".

On November 2005, I started my PhD of Public Health, Epidemiology and Biomedical Information Sciences, Option : Bioinformatics, at the Pierre Louis Doctoral School of Public Health, Epidemiology and Biomedical Information (Profs A. J. Valleron and D. Costagliola), University Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris VI) under the supervision of Dr F. Cambien. My research was based at Inserm 937 Unit (U525).

For my doctoral thesis, I have worked on bioinformatics approaches in cardiovascular research. My work during this period involved the development of bioinformatics tools for preprocessing, analysis and management of microarray data (trancsriptomics, GWAS, and eQTL data). I was in charge of the large scale EU-funded Cardiogenics projects in which transcriptomics and eQTL analysis have been performed on human monocytes and macrophages.

I have started on July 1st 2010 my postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Lübeck, department of Medicine Clinic II (Cardiology; Prof H. Schunkert) . My work involved the development of system genetics and integrative approaches in cardiovascular genomics within the CARDIoGRAM consortium.

I have performed several international trainings and advanced PhD courses in genomics, computational biology, biostatistics and bioinformatics.
