I am privileged and honored to be an engineer and a member of an international organization which aims to promote women in engineering sciences. My engineering studies in computer science and networking have been very helpful during my first steps in genomics research because an engineer is not only someone who uses science and mathematics to create things or to resolve problems but he/she is a highly skilled person who is trained in creating, analyzing, and dealing with new technologies and situations.

During my masters of research in medical informatics I have worked on Type 2 Diabetes and infectious diseases, but since 2005, I am working exclusively on cardiovascular diseases. I have worked closely with cardiologists and had the opportunity to improve my knowledge in this field. My membership to AHA allows me to learn more about cardiovascular disease and to access the latest scientific research in this field.
